Today is a good day. After dropping off more than a fair share of singles for our listening pleasure, Miami beatmakers Urban Noize present their latest mixtape masterpiece, Mr. West. Twin brothers Steve and Steven already have a Kanye West-inspired tape under their belt with the amazing B.C.L., but in my humble opinion one can never have enough Kanye West or Urban Noize tracks.
You may already be familiar with Mr. West’s intro, “Forever West,” which was featured as our SOTD in early June. What you may not be as familiar with are the more soulful reworks Urban Noize has been liable to produce as of late, like their takes on “Homecoming” and “Barry Bonds.” I also am a big fan of what Steve and Steven did with “Brand New,” an older Rhymefest-assisted joint that I hadn’t heard in quite some time.
All in all, Urban Noize have done it again. Mr. West is eclectic, entertaining, and thoughtful. Be sure to stream or download the full project here.
