What's so good?

If you haven’t heard of Wild Beasts then you haven’t heard a great example of proper orchestral pop. Wild Beasts are intricate, peculiar and enchanting. Following their successful album release, Smother, earlier this year, they’re releasing a few singles from their next album, Reach A Bit Further, including this track, “Thankless Thing.”

This single is saturated in a constant swarm of plucked electric guitar, slightly distorted pedals, steadily precise drums, and extremely haunting vocals. This is the epitome of Wild Beasts. They understand the dynamics of texture and sticking with a pattern while still capturing the listener’s interest throughout the entire song. The vocals are obviously the standout. Where else can you hear a falsetto like that?

Reach A Bit Further, is actually a cut from Smother; it will have four tracks total in the form of side A and side B. It’s set to be digitally released on November 14 — until then, enjoy this little teaser from these UK dramatic rockers!
