Emerging from the netherworld of Gardena, CA, young Edwin Liddie, who goes by the name Zeroh, has been one of very few new MCs to catch this pretentious rap critic’s attention in the past year or so. With a technical style reminiscent of Quasar from Typical Cats and the early 90s GOOD Life cafe, aesthetically, Zeroh is a treat to listen to. He knows how to use his voice, volume, and tone in conjunction with his content and delivery, a skill that takes some cats years to get down.
In a pretty ballsy move, the little-known Zeroh has contorted, slowed down, chopped up and simply altered compositions from established acts like Flying Lotus and Jaylib for his latest mixtape. A less skilled MC would have fucked this up royally, but he keeps it loose and fun throughout the 25 minutes that span the tape.
If you’re a fan of the nascent “beat scene” or just have an affinity for old Myka 9 material, this young buck should not disappoint. Visit Zeroh’s Tumblr here.
