Did anyone else know that cars could swim? I didn't until A Car That Swims released lo-fi track, "Pickup." Horrible joke. I'll probably edit this out later.
Truly independent, A Car That Swims only has an announced presence on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. This DIY pop beauty comes to you from four-track EP,Victory Lap, a project from Chris Maier out of New York, NY.
Despite having melancholic, slightly pleading lyrics stratified with a lethargic instrumental foundation, I found "Pickup" to have an addictiveness to it. Maier seems to be singing to a second person about space and patience; striving towards making a romantic relationship work.
On Victory Lap, two of the songs are more synth-focused, while the last song, "Matter of Respect," is comparable to this one. Check the whole thing out here.
