Why do we like this?

Alison Wonderlandhas been one of the more hyped artists in Australia recently, playing to thousands of adoring fans and being talked up by the likes of Diplo (and countless others). With her debut EP just around the corner, she's released her latest single, "Lies," a track I'm really sold on.

While her last single, the trap-heavy "I Want U," was a bit large for grumpy old Hugh (it's coming up to 500k SoundCloud plays, so what do I know!), she's outdone herself on "Lies." Vibrant and poppy to start, the body of the track is where she really works her magic in the echoing, shadowy spaces she creates. For me, there's a definite Chrome Sparks edge to this one.

Alison Wonderland is not just a DJ (a skill she clearly excels at), and should be also knownas a musician going forward. Her Calm Down EP is due out in Australia this Friday, and grumpy old Hugh will be paying close attention.
