It's a tough task to be DJ on a bus full of 25 people, but the folks along for The Plastics / Al Bairre tour seem to be relishing the opportunity. And for me, that means a whole lot of music I haven't heard before.
Today is the last day, so when this single popped up on the stereo it set the perfect "goodbye" tone. To be honest, I didn't actually recognize it, and was slightly surprised to learn its origins.
The song was released on the Angus & Julia Stone's 2007 album A Book Like This, pre-dating the band's much more successful Down The Way. It has a rougher, more upbeat folk edge -- perhaps explaining my inability to initially peg down the original artist.
Unfortunately the brother-sister pair are still on an indefinite hiatus, pursuing their own solo careers. Fingers crossed they team up again sometime soon.
