Oh snap! Don't you love it when one of your dad's favorite bands covers a track from one of your favorite bands, and then suddenly that band becomes your whole family's favorite band? Of course you do (not that it happens very often).
80's giants Tears for Fears are responsible for one of those magic moments, courtesy of their rendition of the Animal Collective's "My Girl." The English new-wave duo have done a considerable amount of justice to the electro-pop ballad -- so much so that I might even prefer this version.
While I always found the original to be incredibly beautiful (a clear hit in my morning shower routines), it seemed to be missing a particular Saturday-Night-Fever hustle. Which is what Tears for Fears bring you, through an 80's vibe (recognizable within their seasoned career), an up-beat kick-snare ratio and a compelling groove.
