Almost a year on from his Frank Ocean-esque Circa EP release, East Londoner Azekel has released a single titled "New Romance." Upon first listen, the track had me staring at my phone screen mouthing obscenities in the most graceful way I could muster. It's really that good.
Released in July, "New Romance" shows how far the musician and producer has come in a year. I was instantly captivated by the punchy drums, Sampha-like vocals, and distorted breaks; then the beat dropped and I suddenly wished I was listening on concert-quality speakers.
Hopefully that will soon be a reality, but with little information available on Azekel it's hard to know what he's planning for the foreseeable future. Until then I'll be keeping a close eye on his SoundCloud for future releases.
