Why do we like this?
Hailing from London, Grant Nelson made his name as one of the founding fathers of UK garage, owed to multiple hits released on his Nice 'n' Ripe record label in the early 90s. Under various different alia on his label Swing City Records, Nelson has been delivering consistently good house music since 1995, and his most recent venture is no exception.
Nelson has taken the debut track from new artist Basspin (also from London) and done something quite wonderful. The original is good, but Nelson really has done it one better, lifting the beat to funkier and bouncier levels that far better compliment the smoky tones of singer songwriter Dyanna Fearon.
If you like this, essential listening to follow includes his remix of Jill Scott. Golden.
