Why do we like this?

Born Joy Dead is the new project of former Hungry Kids of Hungary bassist Ben Dalton. The follow-up to debut single "Upside Down, Inside Out," "Hey Blood" is a romping, stomping indie rock track complete with wailing guitars, a gorgeous beat, and a full blown singalong chorus.

My first reaction was, "WOAH. This is great." The track starts at a really heavy, almost industrial point, before breaking into an indie riff, backed by thick guitars and a sweet syncopated rhythm.

The sweet melody carries it along, but what I like most about this track is everything happening behind it. It's big, it's loud, it's heavy.

A lot of indie rock doesn't do it for me, I think I find it a little too "bubblegum pop disguised as rock." Not so with this track -- huge drums, great distortion, and some classic riff action fill those gaps, making a track that's catchy and fun for all the right reasons.
