Cheekface is new but their sound is keeping alive what is well and good in the experimental post-punk realm.
Their deconstructed track, "Glendale," is wiry and gritty. It starts off with an intriguing riff and leaves you wondering where it'll lead. Then monotone spoken word commands your attention, but not for long.
The grunge-filled guitar never strays too far as the bass slithers beneath. The satirical ode to Glendale is front and center in this art-pop gem. Eventually as the song comes to a close, it turns to a psychedelic swath not for the faint of ears or heart.
