Why do we like this?
Electro-frenzied Dan Deacon's Bromst is not for the lazy. Jam-packed with dance tunes and straight pump-me-up beats, this album is perfect for a night out or a rough workout.

The hardcore nerd, hailing from Baltimore, is known for big rimmed glasses, snow caps and a killer beard. And yes, he is a true nerd at heart. Originally, Deacon studied at the Conservatory of Music in New York and managed to snag a degree by thumbing his laptop and creating electronic tunes through the power of high production sound.

Bromst features Middle Eastern influences as well as orchestration similar to a high school band. Deacon uses distorted vocals (when he even uses vocals) to create an even more unique electronic sound. Listen closely and you can hear the sentimental lyrics that Deacon slips in about things such as missing yesterday.

Throughout the album, he uses heavy percussion -- layers of high-pitched and low-pitched sounds come together in a disarray of rhythm. Creating an altered state of mind through distortion, Deacon's songs are captivating and psychedelic.

Known for his live shows, Deacon is always found at ground level playing with the crowd; if he is on stage, he often welcomes fans to dance alongside him. But who needs a stage to dance?
