Why do we like this?

Words can't express the difficulty of finding indie rock these days that doesn't sound overtly pop or contrived. This feels like the authentic, DIY garage rock that was the reason I fell in love with indie music. Do I sound really dramatic? Yes. Do I write rhetorical questions in like all of my reviews? Don't remind me. Do I care what you think? Yes.

Regardless, Dehd is a trio from Chicago consisting of Jason Balla (NE-HI and Earring), Emily Kempf (Vail and Lala Lala), and Eric McGrady. Their Spotify bio sums up their sound pretty accurately, drawing similarities to the Velvet Underground and referencing influences from the mid '80s underground scene.

Although this track was released this summer, I was shocked we hadn't shared such a lovely track. I feel like I'm in the movie "Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist" when I hear this one. Check out the entire album, Water.
