Dirty Projectors formed back in 2002, and they’re still on quite a roll. The dynamic group has been experimenting with their sound for over 15 years, and this song is only some of their newest work.
Editing audio is a craft on its own, and the musicians expertly maneuver the synth on this track. Dirty Projectors mixed together original and artificial sounds that feel soulful as ever. The slight R&B touch and layered vocals they weave in gives this song a funky flare.
They also mess with some cool editing techniques. Some parts sound raw and natural, while others clearly had the help of technology to create a new sound. The band members share great harmonies as well, since they don’t need anything besides some microphones to let their voices bounce off one another.
The Brooklyn-based group just dropped their EP,Flight Tower, on June 26.
