It's been almost two years since I first came across New Orleans rapper Dre Cruise. He's a skilled lyricist creating hypnotic R&B flavored hip-hop joints. Cruise's long awaited debut release has been continually pushed back due to various setbacks. While a date for the release is still yet to materialize, Cruise has dropped new single "In The Lights" to keep fans tied over.
On the surface, "In The Lights" has that hazy late-night drug vibe similar to many Travi$ Scott tunes, but upon further reflection, the track has a much deeper meaning. Detailing Cruise's fears of his career being stalled and failing to embrace the opportunities he's been given, "In The Lights" is all about Cruise coming to terms with where he is at, as both an artist and a person.
