Why do we like this?
Somali disco is not a genre that features regularly on Indie Shuffle, but Dur-Dur Band's "Dooyo" is too good for us to miss it.
Originating in 1987 in pre-Civil War Somalia, "Dooyo" is a feel-good disco track that was brought to our attention by a re-release of Dur-Dur Band's Volume 5 on the excellent Awesome Tapes From Africa label.
You can get a copy of the track, or album, over at the Awesome Tapes From Africa website, and check out their blog for more world music gems.
