When I was 19, I was readying myself for finals and frat parties. But Australian singer-songwriter Emma Louise has taken a slightly different approach to life, because at 19 she is crafting some amazingly mature, deep, beautiful music. Recently featured as our SOTD for her single "Boy," this still-teen from down under is making some promising moves.
This track is actually from a 2011 EP, Full Hearts & Empty Rooms; after hearing "Boy," I came across this song and was instantly captivated by its seedy underbelly. Where "Boy" is delicate and demure, "Jungle" brings a purring strength and confidence. From the first beat, the track carries a momentum and insight which is amazing, considering this was her first release. Listening to her music, immediately I zoom back to my first listen of Florence or Kimbra.
Emma Louise, we expect big things. Please don't disappoint - although we don't think you will.
