I'm not quite sure what it is that made me fall in love with dup Face+Heel's "Pier Video."
Could it be the slow build? The simple yet effective instrumentation? The unique blend of indie and electronica? Or maybe Luke Taylor's hushed vocals? How about the nostalgic feel it has, heightened by the fact "Pier Video" is an ode to an old video shop and was partly recored on an unrented copy of Girl Interrupted taken from the shop?
Whatever it is, "Pier Video" is one of those tracks that sucks you in completely, and as the opening salvo to their forthcoming album, Our Princess Quarry, I can't wait to hear what follows.
Our Princess Quarry is set for an April 15 release.
