Why do we like this?

Casually flipping through SXSW’s massive music catalog, I was glancing at band names with the hope a few would serendipitously steal my attention. It was in this way I found Fast Romantics. I paused and thought to myself, I bet they sound fun.

Fun, they are. Fast Romantics are a Toronto-based band who has previously played Virgin Fest, CMJ, and SXSW. After a quick dip into SoundCloud I was immediately taken by the five piece’s cocktail of synths, keys, and lyrics. Matthew Angus and Kirty (no last name needed) quickly charmed me with their lovely vocal prowess.

“Animal” is the group’s first single off their new album, getting ready to drop this summer. Of course, you can get a sneak preview by catching these budding babes at Friends, on Friday, starting at 9 p.m.

Get there early. Stay there late.
