Foals Bad Habit (Alex Metric Remix)

Foals is clearly one of the bands to follow in 2013. The English group released their third album Holy Fire in February, and are now on a global tour selling out venues, appearing at festivals, and breaking all our hearts at home.

I've been more than impressed the stormy singles off Holy Fire, so seeing a Foals remix left me a little concerned. Just because a song can be remixed, doesn't mean it should. What could possibly make their songs better?

Only the equally English and talented Alex Metric knows, for he was able to successfully alter a track by this smoldering band.

Metric released his take on "Bad Habit" just a few hours ago and it is gold. The eight minute song flies by, much to the credit of the exquisite pacing. The introduction fades and folds in Yannis Philippakis' unmistakable vocals, which Metric then keeps as a highlight throughout the piece.

My favorite part breaks shortly after the five minute mark, where Philippakis' longing cries surface over sea of spine tingling beats.

If you learned to trust Metric from his Phoenix and Bloc Party remixes, good on you. You are sure to love his magic touch with Foals. Otherwise, welcome to the fan club.
