Why do we like this?
New Zealand natives Richard Larsen and Rowan Pierce, aka Glass Vaults, have been on my radar for a while now. With my last review on their EP Glass dating all the way back to November 2010, it seemed like an appropriate time for them to release some new tunes... and then POOF! I am presented with their latest track titled "Crystallise."
The hypnotically mellow nature of this track has all the key ingredients in making a sentimentally stunning single. While the lyrics conjure hushed emotions, the atmospheric nuances portray expansive soundscapes; a proverbial garnish notably recognized in many of their songs.
The audible arrangements that we have here are thriving components that fluctuate from sensational sound lapses to reverberated percussions with eventual emotive vocal emphasis.
Currently holding residency in NYC, you can catch Glass Vaults at Pianos on June 12 and 26, and you can also download their free 5-song sampler here. In the meantime, take a listen to the world premiere of "Crystallise" and allow its evocative demeanor to spellbind your sentiments.
