Why do we like this?
I know it's not my place to be talking about Australian bands (sorry Hugh, Justin), but this new track from Greyjoy couldn't help but grab my attention.
Fronted by members Karlin Courtney and Matt Crockett, the Perth-based band have been making music together for a year, but are only just now putting out their first release. Which mean it's pretty cool that they've asked us to be the first to share the track with you!
If you're like me, you've noticed an undeniable similarity to Death Cab For Cutie, though the band would peg their dream pop sound as influenced by the likes of Chromatics, Phoenix and Beach House. Certainly their guitar effects match the latter, but personally I'm still going to stick with my Ben Gibbard comparison.
Overall, solid first-round effort.
