With two new singles from Guerre in just over a month, I'm feeling pretty fortunate at the moment. Just weeks out from the release of his debut album Ex Nihilo, the producer has let loose "Tuk," a track that follows close after the exciting single "Deateat" dropped in early May.
Making good use of all the the skills the Canadian born, Sydney-based artist has picked up over the past few years, "Tuk" is a typically rhythmic masterclass. Guerre has called this the most pop-influenced track on the album, stating that "it's me trying to channel all that Pharrell produced Justin Timberlake stuff." I can definitely see that comparison in a lot of the way this one is built, mostly in its glistening synth layering and thudding rhythmns.
Ex Nihilo is due out Friday July 4 via Yes Please / Remote Control.
