Why do we like this?
The beauty of collaboration shines through on this adventurous remix of a great modern jazz record.
Experimental artist/producer Taylor McFerrin uses the base components of Hiatus Kaiyote's standout track "Laputa" to create a captivating soundscape fusing jazz, hip-hop, electronic and neo-soul.
Out of context, this remix sounds like an original piece, which in some manner is the overarching goal of a remix. Leaving Nai Palm's vocals intact throughout, McFerrin gives way towards the end for Anderson Paak to step in for a few brief moments, nonetheless leaving his mark.
Prepare yourself for an emotional ride.
