Why do we like this?

Get ready for a lesson in phonics and vibrant indie pop from up and coming band Hunny. Upon first listen, I compared their sound to Friendly Fires and Foals (two UK artists), and wrongfully assumed they were from the UK as well. Not even close, turns out they hail from my old stomping grounds in So Cal!

Hunny's peppy sound meshes surf-rock influences and electronic elements with a twist of pop appeal. Using wavering guitar chords, unyielding drums, and sunny melodies, it's no wonder this track is leading in the summer the right way.

If you're looking for an alternative to cookie-cutter indie rock, add Hunny to your list of artists to watch. They add a zestful fervor to an overdone genre, and it's near impossible to get their songs out of your head. You've been warned.
