Why do we like this?

On Monday, Jay Prince dropped his EP, titled BeFOR Our Time, and it's one of the most impressive rap releases in my recent memory. It's fresh, poignant, and impressive for only being Jay's fourth project. 

The sound of classic hip-hop (circa A Tribe Called Quest, De La, The Roots, etc.) is making a modern-day breakthrough with rappers like Chance the Rapper and Joey Bada$$ leading the way. Jay Prince isn't far behind, sounding like the UK Kendrick Lamar, and I know that is high praise. 

It's impossible to not hear the similarities between "Cruisin" and "Swimming Pools (Drank)," or "Money Trees." Both rappers have a knack for utilizing beats, melodies and epic bars. A+ for Jay Prince's project and this cut.
