The release of Joe's edit of Bobby McFerrin's "Thinkin About Your Body" brings an end to one of electronic music's greatest recent sagas.
The track was originally premiered in Joy Orbison's Essential Mix, around a year ago, as an "ID edit." The witty flourishes in the track had many suspecting Joy O himself was behind the tune, and Four Tet was another top suspect, with suspicions heightened by the fact he was repeatedly playing the track out.
Despite a long, long YouTube thread of guesses, nobody had managed to correctly identify it as Joe until recently, when Four Tet also announced it was getting a release on his Text label, almost a year after we first heard it. The track has been released right in time for it to be one of the tunes of the summer, and there's pretty much no question it will be -- twisting the Bobby McFerrin classic into a tool to destroy dance-floors.
Because of the popularity, and the whole saga behind it, this ones extremely hard to come by. There might be a few for sale over at Discogs.
