Don’t let the first ten seconds fool you – once lead singer JJ Julius Son starts, you’re in for a wild ride. And by ride, we mean motorcycle ride, because "Hot Blood" makes us feel like we are rebelliously cruising the open road.
With a similar feel to The Black Keys’ El Camino, Kaleo is keeping the raw, resonator-rich sound alive that The Keys made popular years ago. And throwing a few electric guitar solos into the mix while they’re at it. While they are the newcomers on the scene, Rolling Stone recently featured Kaleo as one of the 10 new artists you need to know.
Kaleo hails from Iceland, making their debut at the Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavik back in 2012. Their music has been gaining a good presence in the US, being featured on popular shows like Orange Is the New Black and Grey’s Anatomy, and should continue to gain traction as they recently relocated to Austin.
