Why do we like this?
Here's some electronic pop that sounds like hours of dreaming on a warm summer night. This chillout track is a remix of Kyson's "Ocean Tides" by Henrik José (who's pictured in our featured image).

If you aren't familiar with Kyson, he's a 24-year-old musician from Adelaide, Australia but currently based in Berlin. Seems like all great producers nowadays are coming out of Australia. What's going on over there? Maybe it's in the ocean water. Henrik José is a dreamy electronic pop artist hailing from Sweden but now also based in Berlin. So Berlin and Australia are where it's at.

With regards to this track, I read a magniloquent post on thelinesofbestfit that really captured how I feel about José. Might as well just share what writer Andriana said, as I can't do justice in wording my description after reading her blurb:

"Henrik José captures the arresting, aqueous sentiment of Kyson's original track so perfectly. Amplifying the rickety clicks of rainy days spent indoors, while replacing the billowy, rolling bass with a distorted, creaking bassline that wails and echoes against what might be one of the most charming new voices to emerge this year."

Pretty excellent way of saying it's good. And while José claims this track is just a "cut-and-paste" of the original, I think it's a stunning rework. Always takes a stroke of genius to take something great and make it even better. I'm a big fan of all of José's work - take a listen to "Photo Album" on his SoundCloud.

Kyson's had a big year this year, with 2012 seeing the release of his well-received Bon Iver "Holocene" remix, along with a debut EP. He's also got a new work, Blackstone, on the way out. It'll feature eight original tracks and three remixes. Hopefully more great stuff like this.

You can meet Kyson on Facebook. I'll definitely be reviewing his Blackstone album, so check back soon. You can stream and buy Henrik José's music on Bandcamp.
