Why do we like this?
For a relatively small country, New Zealand has really stamped their name on the international music scene in recent years. With the likes of Kimbra, Lorde, and The Naked and Famous (among others) calling New Zealand home, people are definitely looking to country as a hotbed for musical talent. While still somewhat unknown, Brooklyn-based kiwi Stephanie Brown (operating under the moniker LIPS) might just have what it takes to join the list -- and the release of her new EP might just be what it takes to launch her into the spotlight.

Brown isn't a stranger to Indie Shuffle, with Jason reviewing a couple of her tracks some time ago. Now, with the title track to her upcoming EP Ghosts and Demons already out, we've also been treated to a second single, the upbeat "Freddy Bardot." Settling into a comfortable groove from the outset, Brown's effortlessly cool vocals sit atop catchy beats and synth arrangement. Her music has an interesting twist to it which really sets her apart from most.

Keep an eye on the LIPS Facebook page for news of the EP release, and make sure to check out her covers of Kavinky's "Nightcall" and Frank Ocean's "Super Rich Kids" over on SoundCloud -- both winners.
