The main difference between this post and the one I did about Mabuta's lead single, "Welcome To This World," is that I hadn't already watched them play live.
But now I've had the serious privilege of watching this group of jazz musicians really go at it. A performance spearheaded by Shane Cooper, where the amount of sweat in the room, somewhere on Cape Town's Kloof St., was unadulterated.
I say that in a way which hopefully gets across how into the music these guys were, and how physical it can be when an instrument is played at such a level.
I have a new plan for Cape Town and the surrounds, who are currently struggling through a drought: give Mabuta more gigs, collect their sweat, and funnel it back into the water supply.
