Why do we like this?
It's interesting; electronic music either grabs someone, or it doesn't. People are generally not sitting in tepid waters when it comes to the genre. There are surely areas within which stray into pop and indie music, but talking just straight electronic/house/techno music, you're either in our you're out.
Machinedrum, a Floridian by origin, is definitely an artist which must be understood to be appreciated. His single, "Eyesdontlie," is a dense, dreamy production complete with rippling snares, a fortified bass line and morphed vocals. It's layered brilliance, which comes together with a subtle touch, likely to be appreciated only by certain audiences.
I will say, however, if you are one of those who does appreciate the masterful complexity which Machinedrum lays down in "Eyesdontlie," you've just had a great track added to your repertoire.
