Why do we like this?

With the amount of new music that Madlib puts out, it can sometimes be hard to find the good stuff. In the midst of his 52-track release of The Rock Konducta comes Madlib's latest work, the soundtrack for a recent documentary about the Stones Throw label, entitled "Our Vinyl Ways a Ton."

The tracks are all instrumental hip-hop, and while it is (to the best of our knowledge) the first documentary soundtracked by Madlib, his music certainly makes sense in the context.

One of the standout instrumentals is "Cue 06," a song that starts out with a traditional Madlib-style soul sample before dropping into a more mellow Spanish-sounding guitar.

You get a free copy of the soundtrack when you order the DVD or Blu-ray, which you can do here. It's an interesting look into one of the world's most significant hip-hop labels, and highly worth a watch.
