Why do we like this?

It's always good news when a new Natalie McCool number rolls onto our speakers, and her latest, "Someone Nue," is no exception. Following on from her stunning "Womans World" single back in March, this latest track finds the Liverpool based singer-songwriter on top form from the start.

Having spent several years now fine-tuning her alternative pop sound, a slick production provides her with a confident backing. Her sound is crystal clean and tight as a drum, with shimmering synths and not a note wasted throughout.

Her impressive vocal range builds on layers of harmonies throughout the song, feather-light one moment, a soulful cry the next. "I'm sorry that the world is ending," she sings towards the end, a universal call out to those seeking solace in these turbulent times. A perfect starting point for those new to the sound of Natalie McCool.

"Someone Nue" is out now on Modern Sky.
