BIGSOUND is one of Australia’s biggest music festivals, and the 2017 event is set to be one of the best in the event’s 16-year history. More than 60 artists and speakers will take to the stage at 17 venues over four days in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from September 5–8.
It’s not just the artist line-up that’s exciting; the festival is packed with a stellar list of speakers, A&R reps and talent scouts from all around the globe. Quentin Tarantino’s music supervisor Mary Ramos – responsible for iconic soundtracks including Pulp Fiction and From Dusk Till Dawn – will be in attendance, alongside American publicist Adel Hattem (BIGSOUND 2014 alumni and Flume’s South American promotional representative), and many more. Australian icons Tina Arena and Archie Roach have been announced as the first keynote speakers on this year’s line-up.
A panel of international delegates will face the tricky task of determining winners of the $100,000 Levi’s Music Prize – the largest music prize pool in Australian history. The prize serves to provide up-and-coming artists with the financial support they need to enable them to pursue a successful international trajectory.
"The Levi’s Music Prize creates an important new link in the support chain, enabling artists to capitalise on the opportunities created by showcasing in front of over a hundred international industry players at BIGSOUND,” QMusic Executive Officer Joel Edmonson said, “This partnership with the Levi’s brand is a game-changer for Australian music export.”
