Grimes, born Claire Elise Boucher, is an intriguing, well-rounded Canadian artist who produces, writes, sings, engineers, directs and edits. With all of that in her arsenal it's no wonder her four studio albums have received widespread critical acclaim alongside numerous awards. With her last album, Art Angels, being released in 2015, it looks like fans can cease what will be a three year wait for a new album. 2018 may mark the year for a new album from the eccentric, talented musician.

Grimes' New Album

Taking to Twitter, Grimes shared her sentiments on The Last Jedi. This then followed a reply from a fan requesting her to 'drop new music,' prompting Grimes' response in which she gave away some details regarding a new album.

Earlier in the year, Grimes mentioned that she has felt inspired by the video game Dark Soul for her new music. The plot of the game is for the player to explore, constantly learning from mistakes and exploring new areas; it's a large and continuous open world environment. With that in mind, the new album will follow in pursuit of that feeling.

In August 2017 Grimes took to Instagram to let fans know that she plans to give them new music. She said she needed two more months to explore and create before completing songs, and it looks like she wasn't too far off with her timing, considering that just over 3 months later she has played her label the new music.

"I know i've been quiet lately - in the studio every day trying to legit make something you've never heard before. unexplored sonic landscapes. i need another month or 2 of pure unadulterated creativity at which point i will begin finishing tracks. won't let u down"

Grimes fans can expect something new from their pop producing synth wizard in 2018.
