While the previous Gorillaz album, Humanz, wasn't a big hit, fans don't need to wait the standard five years between albums for a new one. Why? The band have decided that during the creation of Humanz they had so much creativity and ideas that they may as well keep going.
2018 Gorillaz Album
Jamie Hewlett, who together with Damon Albarn is a founding member of Gorillaz, gave word of the new album in a TASCHEN interview. In it he says, "we are working on another Gorillaz album which we are going to be releasing next year. So we're going straight into the next album with no break."
What To Expect
Jamie goes on to give us a hint of what to expect for the next Gorillaz album:
"I'm inventing a new style for the next album. So that in itself is exciting for me because you say 'Ok, I've done that. How do I do it next time and how do I make it different?' So then you explore a new style or a new way of making videos, and then it becomes very exciting again."
Damon Albarn has already begun sending Jamie demos of new songs.
