The only thing that disappoints me about No Vacation is that I didn't discover their music earlier. Though I have to admit, there's something comforting about listening to "August" -- a personal favorite of mine -- as summer comes to a close. Plus, now I get to binge-listen to No Vacation's two EP's Amo XO and the more recently released Summer Break Mixtape.
The San Francisco-based duo embody the self-described genre "post tropical sadcore" with twinkly, sweet vocals and surf-tinged, melodic instrumentals. And, having seen No Vacation play live, I can confirm that their charm is infectious.
If you're in San Francisco, you can catch them in September at Noise Pop's 20th Street Block Party.
