I remember seeing RUFFMERCY asking over Twitter for someone's help in procuring a "Numbers On The Boards" a capella a few weeks back. I thought it was odd since, despite Pusha's ferocious performance on the track, the Madlib-esque beat was the star. I see now what was brewing.

After cementing a style of his own directing and animating videos, RUFFMERCY got his crew together and flipped "Numbers On The Boards" a few times over. First, the producer duo of Book & Bronze remixed the original track, giving it an electronic edge, making it feel a bit more like Blade Runner than Silence of the Lambs. Then, Notes To Self, a Canadian hip-hop outfit, laid new bars over the remixed instrumental. Finally, RUFFMERCY remixed the video and instantly had me wishing his was the official version. The dark, minimal approach to the cinematography of the original lent itself perfectly to the accented animation of Mr. Murphy. The remix is golden for the shots of Pusha's animated Satan eyes alone.
