Big Guava Music Festival was extremely fun. Friday May 2 and Saturday May 3 were rainy and cold, which was a bit unexpected for Tampa. Yet the music went on, as well the carnival rides, beer gardens, food trucks, and vendors. On Sunday, the sun came out, much to the delight of the crowd and musicians
There were four stages, which forced music lovers to make tough choices each day. The Nectar stage was inside, serving as break from rain and sun with artists like Twenty One Pilots, Cake, Hoodie Allen, Civil Twilight, Earl Sweatshirt, Chance The Rapper, and Girl Talk. The Grove stage was outside, and featured Smallpools, American Authors, Band Of Skulls, Ms Mr, Magic Man, St.Lucia, Walk The Moon, and Violent Femmes. The second outside stage was the Orchard, which featured NONONO, Kitten, Gringo Star and ZZ Ward. Last but not least, the Big Guava Stage featured the main acts including Sleigh Bells, Outkast, Tegan And Sara, Haim, Vampire Weekend, Grouplove, and Foster The People.
I was able to see bits and pieces of many performances, but my personal top five favorite acts were Sleigh Bells, Haim, Vampire Weekend, St. Lucia, and Grouplove. I caught their whole performances which each included lots of interaction with the crowd.
Hope to see you all next year in Tampa!
