Now in its 6th year, Full Moon Festival has the significant right to brag about being the only beachside music festival in New York City this summer. Held over two big days, the fun kicks off on Saturday August 20 and continues on Sunday the 21st.

Full Moon Festival returns to its original New York home this year at Governors Island, an actual island with a beach that's a stone's throw away from the southern tip of Manhattan. Getting to and from Governors Island is super easy. Ferries leave from southern Manhattan every 30 minutes and the ride is free for all festival go-ers!

This is another MATTE event. And if you know anything about music events in New York City, you’ll know that MATTE are known for their big turnouts, good looking crowds and high quality events. Last year’s Full Moon Festival was a one-day party held at a cool indoor-outdoor space in Brooklyn. It one of the standout music events of summer 2015.

The highlight of the lineup for 2016 is the Saturday set from SBTRKT and Santigold on Sunday. Don’t miss Pusha T on Saturday and Marcus Marr on Sunday. Rounding out the remainder of this year's diverse lineup includes Black Coffee, Allah-Las, Julio Bashmore, Moodymann, Lolawolf, Kali Uchis, Escort and a DJ set from Dave Harrington.

Not convinced yet that Full Moon Festival is going to be one of the biggest of the summer? Here’s how their website describes it:

“A two-day beachside experience that conveys a worldly cultural sensibility with a New York swagger”

Right? What New Yorker doesn’t want in on that?

Tickets for Full Moon Festival 2016 are available here. See you on the beach, New York!
