This weekend, I'm excited to be attending Firefly 2012, a brand new music festival put on by the same crazy guys who created the legendary 5k Warrior Dash. For their first-ever foray into the world of festivals, the guys have lined up not only some of the heaviest hitters in the rock world, but also some great classic bands as well as more recent indie sensations. With a generally positive indie pop/rock vibe transcending all the acts, Firefly is sure to leave many a smilin' faces come Sunday night. What am I hoping for? I'm hoping that some of my newer favorites like Reptar, Cults, and Moon Taxi all put on as good a show as I've been told they do. I'm hoping that up-and-coming college rock/hip-hop act Kids These Days get everyone jumping, and that Charles Bradley follows them with a particularly soulful and sweaty blues set. I'm optimistic about Jack White's new band, and elated that he is still playing some old White Stripes favorites. Speaking of older favorites, this old school Black Keys fan is hoping that Dan and Pat string in a few of the older, grittier tunes to send us out with a bang on Sunday night. Finally, I'm seriously hoping that the Flaming Lips let me wear one of their animal costumes and dance on stage with them. Because that would be awesome. For those of you who aren't fortunate enough to come out to Dover International Speedway this weekend, here's a Firefly Festival playlist sampling some of the weekend's best tunage. Enjoy!
