Governor's Ball 2015: Festival Preview

Tags: Festival playlist, Electronic, experimental, pop

Governor's Ball is a festival that's born and bred in New York. It's literally a music festival put on by New Yorkers, for New Yorkers. The independent festival promotion company that produces Governor's Ball every year are New York-based themselves. So these guys know what New Yorkers want when it comes to a uniquely New York multi-day festival experience.

For a festival that hasn't been around that long (2015 will be the fifth one), Governor's Ball is increasingly boasting line-ups that give long-running festivals a serious run for their money. It's the quality of the acts they pull that puts Governor's Ball high on the list of must-see summer music festivals.

Much has been talked about the 2015 lineup already. Undoubtedly it is this festival's biggest to date with big headline acts including Drake, Florence and the Machine, Flume, Deadmau5, Lana Del Rey, and Tame Impala.

Lots of acts on the bill have recently released new stuff, even full albums. Deadmau5 and Flume had new exciting tracks out in the last week or so, while acts such as Florence, Tame Impala, Ratatat, SBTRKT, and Hot Chip all have new work in the mix as well. Governor's Ball is a hot chance to see a quality act potentially bash out some of their new stuff.

Head out to Randall's Island (adjacent to Manhattan) for a uniquely New York multi-day festival experience. Governor's Ball runs from Friday June 5 to Sunday June 7. Single and multi-day tickets are available online from this link.
