MS MR: How Does It Feel Tour

The American dream pop and dark wave sensation MS MR released their How Does It Feel album on July 17 via Columbia Records. In celebration, they kicked off a North American/European fall headline tour back in September, which crisscrosses the US and Canada with supporting acts including Circa Waves, Jack Garratt, VÉRITÉ, Crater, Tigertown, and more. Last night, the tour bus stopped at Terminal 5 in New York City.

As I arrived at the front gates, I felt like I was in a scene from the 2001 film Rock Star, starring Mark Wahlberg. Marky Marky wasn't there, but hundreds of fans were lined up and excited to experience MS MR first-hand. Before the duo graced the stage, New York-born singer Vérité blessed the audience with her dark wave melodies and golden vocals.

British singer and producer Jack Garrett was next to treat us. How can I describe Jack Garrett? Nothing short of electric. He posses a proven ear for arrangement and instruments, his voice bellows soulful similarities to John Legend. While mesmerized by his voice and electronic fusions, he strums his guitar like only James Bay and Jimmy Hendrix's never-born son would—powerful and daringly off-beat.

Finally, the main event, the big kahuna, MS MR stepped onto the stage. Red lights filled the room and smoke spilled onto the stage. Lead singer Lizzy Plapinger was center stage with her back towards the crowd. The lights hit, about 200-300 hundred fans erupted into a cheerful frenzy. Lizzy stood fierce and poised in a double slit metallic dress. And with her fiery red hair on fleek, she belted out a sound that electrified Terminal 5!

During "Fantasy," producer and 1/2 of MS MR Max Hershenow took center stage to jam out with Lizzy as they both showed off their dance moves and reciprocated the crowd's energy. The duo played several favorites from their EP, Candy Bar Creep Show and new tracks including "Think of You," "Salty Sweat," and "Head is Not My Home" from their newest album, How Does It Feel.

Overall, the show was entertaining and MS MR expressed genuine appreciation for the crowd's energy and adulation. They are confident in their sound, and their authenticity is illustrated in their full-throttle live performances. It was a thrilling experience. Relive it by streaming the performed tracks below.
