A while back I had come across the term post-EDM. Now I know that we live in a day and age where new genre names are constantly popping up (I blame it on the Internet), to the point where a lot of times they will come and go, and adding a post in front of an already existing genre is nothing new. However, this really stuck out to me.
Love it or hate it, EDM has absolutely changed our musical landscape and I think and crashed down the wall for bedroom producers and kids sitting in front of their laptops to really become a part of the mainstream music industry. It feels as if this post-EDM tag is the next step of producers pushing the envelope to the next stage of what's possible and great about electronic music.
Tonight, I'm showcasing a few artists who are responsible for some of this pushing and helping to define what quality electronic music is in 2017 and where it's headed.
