Spotify House is one of the sexiest spots to be during SXSW. Their lineup this year, featuring everyone from BADBADNOTGOOD and Lucius to CHVRCHES and The Kills, appealed to everyone’s senses.
I spent a fantastic chunk of my Thursday in the space off East 6th Street in Austin, and after I had the extreme pleasure of interviewing St. Lucia (words coming so damn soon), I was hiding in the shade listening for something new.
I found it with POWERS. Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru were on the main stage, in the sun, pushing beats down into my ankle boots. I was instantly impressed by their confident demeanor of these disco darlings.
We’ve spotlighted the dancey duo before, but let’s fill in some gaps.
Del Rio is an experienced and accomplished producer, working with the likes of Selena Gomez, Kylie Minogue, fellow SXSW act X Ambassadors, and The Knocks. When Ru isn’t sending sweat down your spine, she’s arranging words into poetry for Bieber’s ex and Icona Pop. It’s not surprising that these two talented powerhouses decided to give their own act a go.
They’ve already had their honey featured on commercials for J. Crew and Mastercard. Now they slayed SXSW. What is next?
I don’t know what’s in store for this Los Angeles duo, but I do know you need to get them on your radar, on your playlists, and in your life.
