'Wherever you go, there you are' — a saying that lies close to my heart when I consider the corners of the world I have traveled in search of fulfillment. And just as I am there, so is the wind — invisible to the eye apart from what it moves. So too, Ronjo V's beautiful voice cannot be seen and yet, it moves its listener. With gentle angst it paints a picture: "It sure feels like hell today, on the Corpus Christi Bay. I hope the wind blows me away."
In the latter half of the song, the vocal performance takes on a blurred quality as the lyrics flow by, partly obscured. It's a gorgeous way for the artist to share a personal truth with strangers — vulnerability concealed in the power of a beautiful melody.
And just like that, I am listening closer.
