The second I saw that Killer Mike and El-P had thrown the first taste of Run The Jewels 3 into the world with this new single via The Adult Swim Singles Program, I knew I'd be feeling like I could run through brick walls within seconds. There's nothing like their music.
On Beats 1 with Zane Lowe, Killer Mike summarized the new album by saying: "We've made the soundtrack for World War III and the apocalypse,” (referencing the upcoming U.S. presidential election as context), and I’d say that’s a pretty fair assessment based on the explosive muscle of “Talk To Me.” It’ll have you salivating for RTJ3.
El-P’s dense and aggressive production (with Little Shalimar and Wilder Zoby) feels like the birth of an uprising amidst a dystopian inferno, setting the perfect stage for Killer Mike to come out firing on the first verse with: “Went to war with the devil and shaytan / he wore a bad toupee and a spray tan.” From there it’s just absolute destruction.
