Why do we like this?
Having thrilled audiences locally and abroad over the past few years with their soulful pop stylings, Melbourne nine-piece (!) Saskwatch are steadying themselves for the release of their second album. We were treated to the record's first single late last year, with "Hands" endearing the group to many with its upbeat, sassy swagger. Now, with the album less than a month away, we can enjoy another one of its tracks as "Born to Break Your Heart" is now doing the rounds.
A much more subdued affair when compared with some of their previous releases, it explores the darker side of relationships. There's plenty to love here nonetheless, with appearances from Saskwatch's much vaunted horn section as well as some fantastically stirring vocals from the brilliant Nkechi Anele. This is a slow-burner in the true sense of the word, a slice of music that will inevitably get under your skin in the best possible way. Check out the track's slightly dark accompanying video here.
Given the strength of its releases to date, Nose Dive (out on April 11) is looking like an album to definitely keep on the watch-list.
