The indie folk scene eludes me, with the exception of feel-good machine Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. So to find myself soaking up every guitar strum and reveling in each harmonious moment of Austin artist Shakey Graves' collaboration with singer/songwriter Esme Patterson is to remember why I love music: it carries me away, even when I'm sitting down.
"Dearly Departed," which appears on Shakey Graves' forthcoming album, And The War Came, first made waves earlier this year thanks to Pandora and SXSW. I'm by no means early to the party, but at least I'm here. Now someone toss me a Lone Star.
